The First Habit Lewis Schiff 9781329726239 Books Reviews
Really great book. It really helps you to map out a plan for achieving your goals. If you've been struggling with how to work and get results, this book is a great start. I highly recommend it.
I found this book to be a great resource.
The book aims to teach you how to capitalize on what you are naturally good at, with the goal of getting an equity stake in your own work.
The interactive exercises really help to make your goals feel tangible. I love that it puts you in control over your financial future and career success. Make the plan, do the work, be persistent & you'll get a positive return!
In today's world everyone wants a work/life balance & the highest reward for their time- I think this book gives you a great perspective on how to achieve just that.
As my work career has only just begun, I found many of the questions raised in this book to provoke greater thoughts about what path I should be taking. I like that he strays away from giving the traditional advice of, "doing what you love," my favorite argument point in the book. If you've never sat down to think about your strengths and how they can bring wealth to you or maybe you aren't knowledgable enough about the tactics to do so then I'd definitely recommend reading this. Lewis covers many good strategies for the short and long term along with guideline exercises that I will definitely continue to use.
A quick but powerful read that sets you up with the opportunity to immediately create lasting and positive change. This book analyzes the habits of the most successful people and compares it to those of the middle class. I wasn't surprised that there were differences but was surprised at the specific kind. The main takeaway is to narrow your focus on what you're exceptionally good at, double down on getting even better, and figure out ways to follow the money and earn as much as possible doing it. It's filled with stories, statistics, and even thought exercises designed to make you come up with a plan for success. This isn't the type of book you read once and forget about; I've found myself peaking back into it multiple times as I focus on my goals and try to figure out the specific actions I need to take to make them a reality. It was recommended to me by a friend and after finishing it myself, I highly recommended it to another. I hope this trend continues and most importantly, I hope it serves you well!
There is certainly no shortage of "how to be more successful" business books on the market these days, most of which over-promise and under-deliver (trust me, I’ve read a lot of them). However, I found The First Habit to be a refreshing exception, as it harnesses the power of simplicity and action.
I loved that the core argument of The First Habit was very subtle in its profoundness; it is quite mind-blowing that something so useful would be as obvious as it is neglected (I’m not going to spoil this for you, just read it). Instead of promising a magic formula, there are solid guidelines. Instead of pages and pages of self-absorbed fluff, there are concrete observations based on actual examples.
Best part? Schiff is concise and gets straight to the point. Because why wait to start improving yourself when you already have some of the necessary tools.
I highly recommend this book to anyone (in any stage of their lives/career) as a quick yet potent way to take a step back and reevaluate yourself.
